Foto Friday: A Kid with a Camera

Written by Sprittibee on March 21, 2008 – 11:47 pm -

Give a kid a camera and what do they see?

These photos were taken by my nine year old. She has taken a liking to my camera lately. Often times we think of kids as unable to express their creativity or incapable of adult thinking or tasks. I believe that if we just turn them loose with some good tools, they will surprise us every time! Maybe it is us - the parents - who need to see things differently.

In Him,

Very nice pictures. I did the same with my 5 year old daughter. We gave her our older dig camera, and told her to do her thing. The pictures that she takes are amazing. Kids have an innocence that inspires, and are full of creativity just waiting to come out. You are a great parent, but you don’t need me to tell you that. ;>)

Isn’t it interesting what children see as important to snap a shot of? Last spring My Moni was entering photos at BetterPhoto’s contest and some I thought were odd yet they won editor’s pick!

Yeah, she is loving the camera lately. :) I always encourage her with it because every small spark of interest could become a passion later in life. I want to be the one who “gave her wings” rather than the one who told her it was impossible. My mom always did that for me… and still does! She’s always telling me how great of a job I do at homeschooling - even when I’m having really BAD days.
