Tuesday Tour: Wonderfully Random Important Stuff

Written by Sprittibee on April 1, 2008 – 3:21 pm -

Hi there! Hope your week is off to a great start. I wanted to leave you with a few links to stop in at this week for Tuesday Tour that you will enjoy. I tend to be a random blog-reader, so I enjoy a wide variety of subjects. This week we have everything from how to cook Indian food to teaching kids about copyright laws! There’s something for everyone on this list. Enjoy!

First stop: Growing in Grace Magazine’s April 2008 Issue. What a lovely job they have done!

Then head over to: Gmail’s main page to see their April Fools joke! I doubt this link will be good after today!

Want a theme switcher for your WordPress blog? Look no further than this cool widget at Themebot. While you are at it… why not take a tour of the new WordPress 2.5?

BIG NEWS!!! The Heart of the Matter is putting on a Homeschool Virtual Conference in July and August (31st - 3rd). Go sign up and pay for your ticket. You can chat with lots of homeschool moms, bloggers, and wonderful speakers. Be sure to tell them that Sprittibee sent you so they know I’m hard at work trying to recruit for the event. They have a groovy graphic you can nab and place on your blog, too!

Expelled - The Movie is about to open at the theaters on April 18th. If you want to sell out a theater, check out this Expelled Movie promotion site and get your church or homeschool group involved. It takes about 300 tickets to sell out an event. They might even allow you a ’sneak preview’ on the day BEFORE the movie opens if you act now!

In this fast paced computer-age world, kids need to learn early what copyright rules are. My 9 and 11 year old children both have their own blogs already! While they might not post regularly yet, I do want them to be aware of the ‘rules’ in cyberland: safety and copyright laws being two very important lessons our little ones should learn!

Dana of Principled Discovery has started a wonderful series for Homeschoolers and those interested in learning about homeschooling. It’s Homeschool Week! Go check her posts out this week and sign up to participate on your own blogs if you have something to share!

We homeschool moms love to do notebooking, lapbooking, nature journaling and the like with our eager students… yet how many of us take the time to treasure our own lives enough to keep a personal journal of our own? Take this lovely idea to heart: Ann Voskamp’s Visual Homemaking Journal. You can add these ideas to your prayer journal or create a separate journal just for homemaking details!

While we’re on the topic of homemaking, who among you has a fetish for Indian food? I personally love papadums and tamarind chutney. They are the Indian equivalent of Mexican chips and salsa. We have been studying about India in our homeschooling recently and decided to go eat Indian food and make a file that had all our favorite Indian recipes in it. While searching the net for Papadum recipes, I found this hilarious tutorial of how to cook them if you buy the packaged kind at an Indian grocer. Check out the pacman and ghostie papadums and get a April fools day laugh. I had to include this link since I’m still chuckling over it. I even saved the image on my hard drive, being the Mrs. Pacman fan that I am!

And if you like to do bible drills or other timed activities for homeschool, you’ll love this neat online stopwatch - we have been having fun with it lately!

Don’t forget to check back in tomorrow for a big announcement here at HSBA! We’ll be announcing our four new authors that have joined the team!

In Him,

Sprittibee
