Tuesday Tour… Lots of Neat Stuff…
Written by Sprittibee on July 1, 2008 – 2:09 pm -
Dear Homeschool Parent:
What exciting events are going on in your community this summer? An annual festival? A special family concert? A yearly parade?
MeetMeAtTheCorner.org, the Web site that sends kids on virtual fieldtrips, is hosting the “Summer in My Town” (www.summerinmytowncontest.com) video documentary contest for children ages 7-13. The winner will receive a cash prize of $250.00 plus a special airing of their video on the Web site this fall. The contest deadline is August 31, 2008.
Complete information on how to make a video documentary, including step-by-step instructions on creating storyboards and voiceovers, as well as submission guidelines, rules and forms can be found at www.meetmeatthecorner.org.
Will you help us get the word out by passing this announcement along to other homeschool families?
I visited Donna’s site and my kids are pumped up about doing this project. I hope we can fit some time in for this before the summer is gone!
Other than Donna’s cool field trip site, I ran across some other neat links this week and in the recent surfing past… hope you enjoy them!
Tuesday July 1st, 2008 Weblinks:
- Curriculum Review of I Can Study 1 Samuel Alone With God by Karen Mohs (review by Sprittibee) - a great kid Bible study for them to do ALONE.
- Prayer Request for Baby Joe at HOTM… please join us in prayer!
- 4th of July Edition of the Carnival of Homeschooling at About.com by clever Beverly
- Wind River - by Ann Voskamp (of A Child’s Geography)… she blows me away with this spiritual object lesson on Wind and the Spirit! Her new site design is lovely, too!
- Bunny is following her trails… anyone else have ADD? I think Dianne has been spying on me.
- Volume 30 of Letters from Your Friendly Cashier by Carrie… (VERY FUNNY ALERT: do not read while drinking coke, needing to pee, or eating snacks)…
- Freezing Meals, Enjoying Life, and Loosing Weight - over at my food blog… some good tips on making better choices.
- Dana’s busy shakin’ up the body politik over at Principled Discovery. Go jump in to her latest discussion on whether you think a tax credit for homeschoolers is a good idea or not!
- Homeschoolers Threaten our Cultural Comfort - Great Article. Hat tip to Where the Kudzu Grows!
- And something entirely random and snackish: Pickle Pops… in case you know any pregnant women or snott-nosed pickle-loving kids. Be sure to stay long enough to listen to the pickle song.
Have a great week!
Love in Him,

thanks Heather! Nice to know I’m causing someone to need Depends.
Loved that link for the producer book. As much as I’d like to do the documentary, the baby keeps me from going a whole lot. But I’ve got some budding filmmakers and definitely want to check out that book.
As far as A Holy Experience goes, I hardly ever read her posts without crying. It’s a good cry.
